Sites and BTO

I bookmarked these long ago with the intention of blogging them. Now, time to blog.

-Pop vs. Soda, the national map

-LegoDeath

-Dave Marsh's 1001 Greatest Singles, by number

(Yes, we are using the word "blog" a lot today.) The 1001 list does unfortunately not include Bachman Turner Overdrive's "Roll on Down the Highway," (lyrics) which rocked on my radio this morning. You know the song. It sounds like the singer just got hit with a tire iron. "Let it roll! bown-bown-a-bown-bown Down the highway!"

Mark put the song's power best after we saw BTO live last summer. The last song of the sweaty outdoor show, it got the crowd of old people and us "into a frenzy reminiscent of Matthew Broderick going ape on 'Twist and Shout' during the parade in 'Ferris Bueller.'"

Anyway, this morning as the song ended, DJ Dave Marino burst out, "Wow! Wow!" and proceded to gasp for breath. Marino had nearly air-guitared himself into collapse.

Sitting at a red light, I clapped for the man. If I'm stuck behind the wheel of a car, I want a DJ that can play my solos.

Thoughts?
