Mike Mussina's night at the ballpark
Mike was scheduled to pitch this afternoon for the Yankees, but with the team's clinch of the American League East yesterday, he got today off. Judging by news reports of last night, he seemed to enjoy his suddenly pressure-free evening.
AP: "Mike Mussina taped up plastic in the clubhouse to protect the Yankees' lockers; it's his only responsibility in Boston since he won't be needed in the regular season finale."
NYT: "Randy Johnson, who pitched seven and a third innings to beat Boston for the fifth time this season, did not know the Yankees could clinch until his teammate Mike Mussina told him in the eighth inning."
Smart guy, that Moose.
