New site, new job

If you missed the link on Romenesko, you can now see what I've been working on for the last six months. It's a relaunch of USATODAY.com, coming this weekend, combining a redesign with lots of social features and alternative content presentations. Additionally, new tools are behind the scenes to help editorially and technically. BuzzMachine calls it "USA Tomorrow" and Lost Remote is similarly positive.

For me, after having a limited role in On Deadline during this project, I'm going to be leaving the blog entirely. I'm proud of cofounding it — still going strong, it won an annual Best of USA TODAY award recently — but it's time to try something new. I'm going into a new position, network editor, to help run our new "network journalism" efforts. A new, smaller blog comes with that push, and I'm looking forward to it.

Who knows what any of this means for blogging here. Once we get through this weekend … and maybe the week after that … a degree of normalcy sounds nice.

Thoughts?
