Abe Lincoln dear

I went to my first inauguration event ever yesterday. Closest I'd been previously was Reagan's first, when my parents considered it before deciding it was too ridiculous for a seven-month old. For other ones … Democratic or Republican, you feel compelled as a Washingtonian to take part, to be part of the history in your city, and simultaneously repelled by the masses of out-of-towners taking over your streets.
It turns out the tipping point for me is an awesome concert. This time was my 13th seeing Springsteen, and the rest of the performers didn't disappoint. I really need to see Garth Brooks on his own. The crowd wasn't as partisan as one might have been expected, which was fine with me because I cheer inaugurations not candidates. Thank you to good friend Kristen who pushed me to go until I woke up and went.
