Friday best: Free food, singing, cookies, map

Favorite gallery: People spending 24 hours at a new Chick-fil-A to win free food for a year (or "What I should've been doing on furlough").

Favorite quote, Placido Domingo on his career: "I will never sing one more day than I should, but I should not sing one day less than I can."

Second favorite link, via Pop Candy: "Should the Girl Scouts Ban Online Cookie Sales?" It's actually an interesting debate, given the contests.

Favorite link: It turns out the Girl Scouts have a national database of where they're selling. Zoom by zip, calendar and location to see hours.

Favorite story: Bringing the sad stories home as powerfully as any of the articles this week, the Sun-Times has a Google map of where 27 Chicago Public School students have been slain so far this school year.

Was planning to pub this post yesterday before the news happened. Chicago has since lost its 28th CPS student this school year.

Natalie's birthday was yesterday and I called to wish her HBD. I asked her what she was eating for her birthday dinner (I always ask this): Chick Fil-a. Soooo amazing.

Awesome. A Pop Candy reader has always wanted me to buy Chick-Fil-a for Whitney. Someday his dream will come true.

[...] If today is the first time in days that your RSS reader has updated this feed, that's my fault. You have about some posts to catch up on now: a reporter jumping im a tub of grits, newspaper tweets from 1940, a St. Patrick's Day collage, a cool poem, more love for Giada, "the big empty," a trip to the batting cages, the wildest NYer poem in a while, and free food and a sad map.  [...]
