His kids could teach you a thing or two, Johnny
The greatest math movie of all-time, as anyone knows, is Donald (Duck) in Mathmagic Land. The second greatest math movie of all-time is Stand and Deliver. (I wish to apologize personally to Jennifer Connelly for not ranking A Beautiful Mind in these top spots. Jen, call me.) If you agree, maybe because Stand and Deliver helped you believe you could rise to the occasion in high school calc class, all practice tests to the contrary, you need to read how Jaime Escalante is fighting cancer and Edward James Olmos is raising funds for him. A PDF details how you can help.
CBS talks to Escalante:

This is sad. I would say he just needs ganas to win this battle, but I'm afraid that doesn't work for cancer the same way it did for BC calculus exams.
Mr. Dewer introduced us to Jaime Escalante in the ninth grade. He was so smitten by him that he made us watch camcorder footage of his pilgrimage to Escalante's classroom.
Mr. Dewer also made us dance to They Say It's Your Birthday, but that's another story.

I love it. If I ever got to Escalante's classroom, I'd do the same thing. And you know would too. :)
