The debut of National Public Racing

Bringing you a Speedway Moment.

Late night Los Angeles, what were we doing? Where were we going?

And why was there an Earnhardt tribute in this place of business?

'Cause we were going go-karting, that's why! High-speed go-karting!

Didn't I just go go-karting, you ask? I sure did. You see, friends…

This time was Dave's idea. He has a license for the kart chain. For real.

Steve put on his race face. This track was no church-driving Sunday.

Scott, who'd kindly driven us there, saluted everyone about to rock.

We hit the track. Visors down, picking up speed, rubber flying off tires.

We'd worked a fun but exhausting weekend together. We hit the gas.

The electric cars had amazing grip and solid speed, and all got blurry.

As usual, the world returned — improved — as we finished and slowed.

And, again as usual, when we finished, we still looked ready to roar.

Myself, Dave, Keith.

Ki, Angie, Kim.

We headed back to the night, vibrating slightly. Then hotel, bar, bed.
