Pix: Trojan man
During a break in the Los Angeles trip, I walked around USC's campus.

While I met Tommy Trojan, Dave met what I figure is Tommy's horse.

In true 12-year-old style, I took lots of pictures.

For some reason, old-timey pink bicycles were everywhere.

Someone told me this pool was the pool from Cocoon. Possibly false.

I unknowingly captured the seven Heismans on their last day together.

But taking a close-up of O.J. Simpson's Heisman and not Bush's? Fail.

What will USC have left to celebrate? Water polo? I kid, I kid.

Even the bannisters are celebratory, for the school's past Olympians.

Just as cool? The new film building. I had no idea. It was like a backlot.

My NU classmates in film, all of them had tried to get into USC film.

Seeing the new film building, like this man's statue, I understood.

The building's courtyard. "Spielberg" was one side, "Lucas" the other.

In the center of the courtyard, a wild statue of Douglas Fairbanks.

Moving on… I've always a soft spot for things called The Cheshire Cat.

And I will admit not everything with the word "Trojan" in it is funny.

Sometimes I had to look at other signs for a laugh. Smart school, USC.

Thanks to USC alumna Megan for urging a walkabout and giving me a great list of things to do. I hit about a quarter of it, so I must go back.

I didn't try to get into USC film. I got into NYU and I said "fuck you, I'm a 'Cats fan!"

Take that, NYU! I don't even know what its mascot is. (Probably a wildcat.)

I believe the NYU mascot is a bum sleeping in Washington Square.
And those pink bikes are called Beach Cruisers – they're fairly popular in parts of LA that are relatively flat, like the area around USC. Not a ton of gears, so they're not terribly popular near me at hilly UCLA, but they're super-comfortable.
