How did I not blog this stuff last year? … Dating
Over the holidays, cleaning up, I found there were many photos, papers and Web notes around my house of things I meant to blog but for some reason never did. To clean house in 2012, time to blog. Part five of six.
Here are four things about dating I meant to blog but never did.
1. 2011 made me more okay with bad news and good news occurring. When bad happened, innovation techniques strangely seemed helpful. I grew better about failing fast, accepting failure and sometimes even celebrating it. When good happened, I got better at accepting it also.
2. By not going on a date, I accidentally caused the abrupt ending and subsequent revival of a leading D.C. dating, sex and relationships blog. That was unexpected. For what it's worth, while I realized I wasn't the best match for the blogger, I did like the postings' writing and honesty.
3. Capitol File magazine somehow named me one of its 17 most eligible "Black Book" bachelors, along with the Washington Wizards' John Wall, a Caps' player, a United player, actor Kal Penn, White House chef Sam Kass, a Charlie Palmer chef, a human-rights activist, the artistic director at the Washington Ballet, and others. I'm still not really sure how I got on the list. I suspect a guest lecture in a University of Maryland digital journalism class, which sometimes supplied interns to the magazine. I hope so. The friend I substituted for promised dinner. Never got it! I'll settle for mystery inclusion on a list of rich, powerful, handsome stars.
4. I stuck to my guns on three personal dating theories. Theory A: If Wilco's lyric "It just shouldn't ever have to be this hard" comes to mind a lot, something's wrong. B: Hold out for awesome. C: Only let yourself date at work when you are willing to fight a strong man or lion tamer. The theories led to a quiet dating year. But it was one ending happily.

You are underselling the awesomeness of being the 14th most eligible bachelor in Washington.

Fine, fine. In addition to being one of the more strange things in my life last year, it was also pretty cool. But strange!
