A year ago, I’d never been to the National Arboretum or the U.S. Botanic Garden, and I mixed them up to no end. Now, here I stand, having been to both and knowing which one is which. A real plant rags to riches story.
(Did I spend my entire June blog post about visiting the Arboretum calling it the Botanic Garden? Sure did! “Finally old enough to appreciate/love the Botanic Garden.” Just realized that now and corrected it. Poor fool.)
Went to the Botanic Garden’s holiday celebration, which I’d always heard was cool. Surpassed my expectations. World’s Fair successes, made from plants. Washington’s most famous buildings, made from plants. And, of course, plants, made from plants. All of which added to the joy of visiting one of the city’s warmest places on one of the city’s coldest winter days.
