My appologies for my tardiness, but it's that time of year again as one can imagine.

Anyways, to make a long story not quite so long, I was, as usual, greatly confused by one of Mr. Cooper's ideas. Mainly, his submission that the best solution to the soggy cereal problem was to fix the spoon.

Now, on the outset, this seems like it might be a halfway decent idea, but upon further clarification from Patrick himself in a conversation, this seemed to take a turn down the briar filled path in the woods. And, although Frost tells us that taking the path less traveled can have it's advantages, this would be a folly that a wiseman would not partake in.

Why not change the spoon though? Well, in short, no matter what type of mechanism you have, invariably a container of milk will need to be pumped into the spoon handle. Not only will this involve more parts, creating a more difficult to manufacture and more expensive product that has a greater potential to break, but you also are creating a product that is very difficult to clean. I'm not sure about you, but after one too many traumatic child hood incidents involving spoiled milk, I can only see disaster on this walk through the woods. Consequently, what if Patrick's little brother was enjoying his morning's bowl of cereal and Pat distracted him, resulting in his brother turning around with spoon in hand and thus toppling over the container of milk attached at the other end? True, a clever design could take this into consideration, but the question remains, do you want your utensil to have a leash?

Well Matt, Pat asked, what would your solution be?

From a product design standpoint, and from the school of thought that the simplest solution that covers the widest array of scenarios is usually the best, I would propose changing the bowl.

Much like at parties where you would like to have a bowl with a small bowl in the center so you can easily serve chips and salsa on the same platter, the same idea can solve your cereal problem.

Design a bowl that has a wide outer ring for the cereal, and a smaller cup in the center for your milk. This way you can pick the cereal up with your spoon and dip it in the milk...or, if you are lazier, just push some cereal into the milk and fish it out.

This solution, unlike the spoon solution, would also have several other practical uses. Not only would it be viable for use with your cereal, but, as mentioned above, it could be used to entertain guests at parties by serving chips and salsa with a specially made platter. (or veggies and dip for that matter too) Furthermore, this solution would be by far easier to clean and store, cheaper, simpler to produce, and less likely to break.

Mr. Cooper, please find a logical argument against this, unlike our prior conversation.
