Somewhere, a Vietnamese ice cream vendor weeps

Following up her fine report of Yogen Fruz in Beijing, East Asian Fruz correspondent Melissa discovers the chain now in Ho Chi Minh City.

Sure, the franchise now has 600+ members in its Facebook group, but won't anyone think of the ice cream? All the buckets uneaten? The ice cream men and women suffering lost business? All of the truth that ice cream provides, forsaken for umlauts and yogurt? What a world.

(Melissa has since returned to America. We're closing the bureau. The fact is we can effectively cover the rest of the Fruz from Washington.)

The umlaut makes even less sense to the Chinese

Likely translation: "But I thought this company was from Canada?" The Beijing photo comes to us from East Asian Fruz correspondent Melissa. In local news, Washington Fruz bureau chief Sheri says she has caved and visited the downtown location. Please congratulate Sheri on her new, immediate reassignment to Canada.  –Cooper FruzWatch 2009

(Landing as usual in your black froyo-fueled helicopters, welcome to Yogen social-media agents. A belated happy Victoria Day to you.)

Now open but I wasn't tempted

What was behind boards at Tysons. Gut reaction: They need a mascot. (Usual welcome to the Yogen Fruz Google Team. Some day, comment.)

Yogen Fruz is coming for Edy, Ben and Jerry

First, they took on your Dairy Queen. Now, as friend Sheri photo-txted from a supermarket, they're messing with your grocer's freezer. What next? They run at you on the street and kick the cone from your hand? I wouldn't put it past them. (Yogen Fruz Google Squad, welcome back.)

Not right with the world

I can't explain why. But it isn't.
