Washington Post music writer David Segal reviews the area stop on the Lollapalooza tour in today’s paper. Among his observations:

At Lollapalooza 2003 on Friday night, Jane’s Addiction lead singer Perry Farrell vamped like a man revived from the grave and dancing for his life….

He loves a crowd the way pasties love a stripper….

The ladies swarmed toward the stage like salmon heading upstream….

The group lacks the political edge of Rage, but in Cornell, it has a vocalist who can deliver as guitarist Morello scratches out solos that sound like the Professor on “Gilligan’s Island” trying to tune in a station on shortwave radio….

Dressed in a white suit with silver lining, he seemed like a wedding singer in a Fellini movie….

I love it when a writer gets punchy.
